They were turned into white folk fearing (not God fearing) Christians. Blacks were indeed Muslims and Moors when they were brought to these shores as slaves. It is reported that upwards of 2 million black lives were lost crossing the Atlantic during America's human trafficking time. Blacks didn't start arriving in America en masse until around 1555, and one of the first ships to cross the Atlantic Ocean carrying a cargo of Africans was called Jesus of Lubeck, which sailed from Africa to those 13 colonies the good reverend asks about. Nor did blacks arrived on the Nina, Pinta or the Santa Maria. Since the Mayflower was filled with the outcast and dregs of Europe, Africans didn't participate in that particular voyage. I wonder though, if the good reverend ever questioned how many of the previous presidents were Freemasons? Or how many other presidents had black blood running through their veins? Or why previous administrations lied to the American public to get this country into war? Moving on, the reverend also asked if there were any Muslims on the Mayflower the answer is no.
But notice the hypocrisy when Obama went to visit the birthplace of his father in Kenya and put on the traditional garb of Kenya, hyper-patriotic types went into a frenzy, but when he visited Israel and put on the yarmulke, I don't recall hearing a peep out of anyone. Unlike many hyper-patriotic Americans, the president has a diverse background which has allowed him to live in many parts of the world, not to mention that he had no real choice in the matter. Obama has always maintained in interviews that he and his family follow Christ. The good reverend questions whether or not Obama is a Muslim/patriot or not, because apparently in America it's incompatible for a person to be a Muslim and a patriot. However, as a reverend, Smith should have done a little more research before asking those questions. Smith, like myself and countless others has been the unfortunate victim of America's poor civic and social studies curriculum, so I won't fully blame him for his ignorance. Hamilton did a great job defending the president from a political perspective, but let me defend him from a historical and cultural perspective. Dan Smith in regards to how patriotic President Obama is, and how many Muslims were on the Mayflower or in the 13 colonies. This was the response of Joe Hamilton to a previous letter written by the Rev. 10 Chronicle I saw a letter that made me say, enough is enough.
